My Story

Hello! My name is Vivian Liu and I originally started this blog as a project for my internship with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.  Despite rarely seeing homeless people in my community, I found through my research that there are many homeless people in the Alameda County who are overlooked. According to the 2022 Everyone Counts (PIT) data, Alameda County currently has 9,747 homeless individuals.  Oakland, by far, has the highest homeless population with a count of 5,055 people (PIT data).

I later decided to also include on this blog, stories of people from marginalized communities and low-income communities in the Alameda County.  The goal of this blog is to humanize the homeless and marginalized community, share in their struggles, offer support, and get feedback for the Alameda County.
